THE REPETETIVE NATURE OF EVERYDAY LIFE

2017 – 120 x 50 x 50 cm
brass – mirror – wood

The repetitive nature of everyday life, was what I was concerned with while working on this project. Routine is easy to fall in to. I wanted to show it with a very simple animation.
I tried finding the early instruments used for projection of image. And ended up building a machine based on the early designs of a contraption called Praxinoscope. Originally the machine was working with steam force. In remaking it, the movement of the hand of viewer replaces the energy of steam. By winding the handle, viewer creates repetition, just like the circle of earth and the passage of days.
